Volunteer Opportunities

Personal Care

• Handling personal hygiene care needs of the Resident. Includes changing of briefs, following medication instructions, helping residents move or transfer.

Companionship

• Good at listening and being a compassionate presence. 

General Support

• Complete a "to-do" list during shift, light cleaning, emptying trash, laundering of sheets, and assisting with food trays
• Office work

On-Site Requirements

• Background Check
• By state health department requirements, all volunteers working in a shelter must provide proof of COVID vaccination
• TB test required

Training Provided

• Understanding trauma and abuse 
• Companion Training
• Managing conflict

• Communicate with and organize volunteers
• Work with prospective new volunteers
• Process volunteer applications and background checks
• Provide quarterly training to companion volunteers
• Attend board meetings via Zoom (usually 1st and 3rd Tuesdays)
• Handle concerns and inquiries from volunteers

Requirements

• Strong organizational and interpersonal skills
• Background and experience check
• Fluency with MS Office productivity suite.
• If you plan to work from home, verifiable secure home computing environment with firewall and VPN capability.

• Be on-call to assist when Program Manager is unavailable.
• When a resident passes,  supervise completion of paperwork, support and comfort visitors and staff, and ensure proper treatment of body.
• Handle emergency calls to general RMR phone number.

Requirements

• Professional medical or counseling experience
• Background and experience check
• Fluency with MS Office productivity suite.
