An excellent way to support Rocky Mountain Refuge is to donate brokerage investments, like stocks or exchange traded funds (ETFs) that have grown in value. In addition to supporting our work, donating investments can offer some benefits for the donor: 

• Since the investment was not sold by the donor, the donor avoids capital gain on the increase in value, which is usually taxable.
• The donor may receive a charitable tax deduction for the full market value of the investment on the date it was donated – check with your tax advisor.
• An investment that takes up too much of a portfolio can be pruned back without selling and incurring a capital gain – talk with your financial advisor.
